Academics

Our purpose has been to provide the destitute children along with the men and women of Afghanistan with better opportunites. Through our academic programs such as our Konkor training and other academic courses, we have been able to educate over 700,000 people.

Computer Training

Most schools in Afghanistan do not have computers or access to the internet. This lack of connectivity isolates the Afghan students from the rest of the world and causes Afghanistan to further fall behind. Afghan Learning Academy has paid special attention to computer literacy in Afghanistan. From the inception, the Academy has opened and operated a number of computer courses in Kabul, Kandahar and Wardak provinces. We are committed to continue providing computer education to schools.

Language Classes

Understanding the importance of the English language in today’s academic world, the Afghan Learning Academy has helped thousands of students learn English. This valuable skill enables students to learn from the vast pool of resources available and to get prepared for a better tomorrow. Some of the students that we have trained are serving in high governmental and private sector positions.

College Entrance Exam Training

The Afghan Learning Academy runs and operates a training program for senior high school students to prepare them for college entrance exam locally known as Kankor exam. We have helped thousands of students prepare for this exam.

Our Impact

Afghan Learning Academy has had in prescene in over eight schools in Kandahar. Along with that a multitude of our students have returned to work for local and national governments, and many are now professors, engineers, doctors, and nurses.

Teacher Training

The Afghan education system suffers greatly form lack of qualified educators to bring quality education to the students of Afghanistan. There are many reasons for this, prominent among them being talent flight due to prolonged conflict and instability, low teacher salaries and lack of training to prepare teachers for modern education systems. According to the World Bank “only four in 10 teachers showed evidence of mastering fourth grade language curriculum and fewer than 40 percent of teachers showed evidence of mastering fourth grade mathematics curriculum”. This crisis in education is directly related to lack of professional and well trained teachers.

In order to help the Department of Education in Kandahar, the Academy has provided training to more than 1200 teachers and educators.

Publications

Afghan Learning Academy has published more than a 80 books on verity of subjects and topics. More than a 125,000 copies of these books are distributed for free to schools and universities throughout Kandahar city. We welcome your help in this endeavor.
